Content is definitely king. Have you ever heard Etta Baker? No packaging, all talent, peidmont style acoustic blues picking. She was like this little old lady who influenced people like Taj Mahal.

As far as video games, my career there peaked with Tecmo Bowl.

ya it does .. i do have to be honest too, it is kinda cool technology .. i have sat there on more than one occassion on http://www.thisisfly.com and just rolled my mouse back and forth over the corner of the page … kind hypnotic ya know … then i play a little game where i see if i can turn a full page with just one swipe of my index finger across my laptop mouse pad … definately cool technology with the almost lifelike representation of page turning … but, in the end, i like http://www.thisisfly.com cuz of the quality content …

probably the same amount as there are blogs .. right? i mean what’s the difference? rather than clicking the user turns the page? .. so, the way i see it .. there is a very grey line between .. “website”, “blog”, “magazine” .. and the 6 mazillion other “widgets” that will come down the pipe from now through infinity … ultimately, though .. same premise ..

pictures - text - video on a domain .. and the simpler version of that (at the server level) .. slap a folder on a web server .. dump some pictures and text and video in it .. slap a domain on it eg. http://www.whatever.com an viola .. you got a website, blog, magazine, etc… whatever its called .. it’s ultimately all boils down to 1 thing … content. you know, kinda like a cell phone .. you have features and buttons that i don’t etc.. and visa versa .. or just like laptops .. my lights are blue and yours are yellow and you have a mac and i have a pc and my monitor is true bright and yours is not and you got AMD and i got INTEL and windows and vista and quicktime vs. real time vs. windows media and adobe vs. pinnacle vs. dreamweaver and you got an ipod and i got a phillips ……. you get my point …. ultimately, …………… it’s the content that i like and the technology is just a tool .. simply a means to an end … i have this discussion alot with folks … and use the analogy of … a guitar .. you got electric, 12 string, acoustic, solid body, nylon string etc and so many crazy variations its endless .. but in the end .. jimmy hendrix, clapton and all the greats and their ability to produce amazing content is all that mattered .. ultimately, nobody remembers hendrix because of the various tools (guitars) and technologies (amps, synthesizers, peddles etc..) used to deliver his content …. hendrix is and will always be remembered for his ability to produce amazing content. period.

If This is Fly had not already been out I would say this is ok, but really more like Fly Fishing America in it’s layout and style. which is to say, meh.
