Going With Glass

horrocks

Upstate last week, I found my dad’s old fiberglass fly rod in the boat shed. I think he bought it in 1963, or maybe 1961, not sure.

It’s called the “Mohawk Deluxe.” Manufactured by the Horrocks-Ibbotson Co, Inc., of Utica 2, N.Y., U.S.A.

It also has “Rainbow” no 1407 1/2, 7 1/2 ft.

Tournament Taper rigid butt-sensitive tip

There’s also a gold sticker that says “Made from Scotchply 3M Company Epoxy Fiberglass”

Off to give it a proper test…
