If you can get a cat to take a fly you can get a gator to take one – I reckon a streamer pulled across its nose would do the job – imagine the fight off that beast – if only you were not running away at the time!
Are you saying you’ve gone fly fishing for cats? How do they compare to pike?
As far as the strength of a Gator, I had the opportunity to wrestle one once, as part of a demonstration. It had its mouth taped shut with electrical tape so it couldn’t get me. I jumped on its back and it dragged me into the water like I wasn’t there. I think one could get well into your backing before you could blink.
I think I would have been taking a cab about then.
A friend and I took a bus from Toronto to Florida many years ago and at one point our bus driver had to get out with a broom and tried to get a gator off the road where he was sunning himself.
It was the coolest thing I had ever seen. To that point I had only ever seen a gator in a picture or on the tube.
Now that would scare your average British angler to death.
Do you think it would take a fly?
Maybe if you stuffed it inside a whole chicken
