Pete McDonald,
Franklin’s is a most excellent and appropriate posthumous tribute.
FWIW, fishingjones is badass. sweet tunes occasionally sprinkled on amusing and humorous and righteous fish reporting.
my commentary on your music is worthless as i am completely biased - a fan of most of what you post and much of what is related. however, as a “communications consultant”, i believe i am professionally qualified to say that your fishing pix/stories/links, as with the rest of your blog, are all high value and high quality to those who live for the tug.
keep your nose to the grindstone/stick on the ice/fly in the water. and hands on the keyboard.
Many thanks for the kind words. (I know there must be, at least, like three other readers who feel the same way you do–counting family.) BTW, is this Chris who I used to work with in NYC? If so, send word of those wild trout you bust out in Utah. If not, thanks again, Other Chris.
sumbitch.
Thank god for my Reconstruction and LoM albums. Merl will live on. Definitely an underrated, yet humble and modest player in the dead scene. You will be missed.
Loved his albums with Jerry .I read somwhere that it was Merle that helped Jerry learn how to play again after one of his ” diabetic “breakdowns.
I remember reading the same thing somewhere. I think it was in a Garcia biography called Garcia: An American Life.
Pete,
I don’t think I am that Chris - last time I was working in NYC was mid-90’s when Urban Angler was decidedly not hip and I was in school and working as a messenger . Although, my line of work then could explain why I wouldn’t remember certain fishing discussions….
Anyway, shoot an email if you are headed in the direction of MA and we will buy you the cold beer of thanks that you so richly deserve for this unpaid work.
Chris
Heh, I figured out you weren’t the same Chris who’s now in Utah, but must say that as a messenger you provided an invaluable service.
