Do you catch them on fly? If so, what flies do you use?
Thanks.
Because the snakeheads hang so tight to the bank they are super sensitive to any movement on shore and it’s hard to get close enough to cast with fly. The longer cast you can make the better. But try clousers, streamer patterns and bendbacks, puglisi patterns or something that pushes water.
This past trip I had sluggish fish from a cold front but had a few snakeheads follow a white rabbit strip pattern fished with short strips and a lot of tail wiggle. I ran out of water before they would commit. That happens a lot with me and these fish.
I just caught two big (5 lbs) snakeheads out on the Sawgrass Expressway in Ft Lauderdale, if you know where that is. Pretty cool fish.
Sure do. Nice work.
Any possible snakehead hunting grounds around the orlando area of the St. Johns River, and if no snakehead what (good eating) fish are near, where can they be found, and what would be the best bait/tackle to use?
Thanks!
