Winter Blues

Mike experiences the bluefin euphoria

Unrelated email conversations with Jeremy of Flies and Fins and Michael Gracie of, well, Michael Gracie, brought back the memories of a trip that constituted four days of uninterrupted awesomeness.  I haven’t gotten to play the tuna game since that trip, though Lord knows we try, but it’s not an everyday–or even every year–happening to have fly-rodable bluefin come into the backyard.

Watch the water rip at 3:18; that pretty much sums up why this is the holy grail of northeast salt. Damn I’m ready for the season.

  1. Do you know who’s playing the music in that vid? It’s downright awesome tuna-age!

  2. I’m going to have to boo that pun, Michael.

  3. I believe that’s Jeremy. There’s a music link on the Flies and Fins site with all the songs.

On a side note, I’m going to have to go ahead and agree with Alex here.

  4. May you both get spooled at the hands of a bluefin, soon.

  5. yeah, D- Pun. Sorry guy. Sick video though.

  6. Nice tuna! what did you use to catch it and what was it like reeling it in? Must have been exciting!
