More Carp Love
Posted on March 25th, 2009
You all no doubt saw the WSJ Brownline article and video already (nice net work MG). Here’s more carp love coming your way from the renowned Montauk guide Amanda Switzer on her destination site The Angling Post.
Money Quote: “They have mouths that look like a woman’s reproductive organ…”

I’m guessing Amanda wrote that? If so, I feel sorry for her, cause I’ve never seen a “woman’s reproductive organ” that looked quite like that.
Great stuff. I think this site of Amanda’s is going to be a good resource for fisherman looking for unbiased info to find guides/lodges that other fisherman recommend .. I also think that it takes a well established guide, with a name and a long history of the guiding industry to be able to pull a site like this off .. and weed out bogus self promotion reviews from legitimate reviews .. Even if the site hits the “unbiased” mark according to the 80/20 rule .. it will still be better than what is out there and available to fisherman today .. and Amanda is committed to ensuring authenticity and integrity of reviews … Good luck Amanda .. I know I will be using http://www.theanglingpost.com as a resource for when I travel to fish destinations where I don’t know anyone and have no real insight into choosing the best guide/lodge for my style of fishing .. It sucks to choose a guide or lodge merely on his/her marketing information on a website owned by the guide/lodge and then realize (when its too late) that there is a BIG difference between “online” and “on the water” .. .. everyone has different fishing styles .. so 1 guide or lodge may be GREAT for a certain style of fisherman .. and the same guide/lodge would be TERRIBLE for another style of fisherman .. So, being able to match up my fishing style with a guide/lodge that suites my style is priceless … So, I put in a few reviews of guides I have fished with and like in Maine, Ct and Rhode Island …… If anyone out there has guides/lodges they recommend in places they have fished or stayed .. throw up a review .. I think the site will only be as good as the reviews and Amanda’s ability to keep those reviews/recommendations as unbiased and authentic as possible .. for fisherman by fisherman… If anyone can pull it off .. I think she can .. as any guide who can make it to the top of the heap in the ultra competitive guiding market MONTAUK, NY … has the capabilities and credibility and respect of fisherman and guides to run something of this nature .. without Amanda monitoring it and managing it ….. I am not sure that I would find any validity in the site or information. Good luck Amanda!
ummm… I’ve never really looked at a carp in “that” way…
We all have a first impression. Some are very strong. You might think differently now though when you land your next carp
Cheers,
Amanda
Thanks. I do make a good net boy, don’t ya’ think?
Amanda, I’ll never look at a carp the same way again.
MG, changing your blog name to “Net Boy” could work for you on many levels. I’m an advocate.
You think I could get away with adding a derivative of Amanda’s money quote as a tagline?
It depends on how you spin it. Would you do it like the original Smell the Glove cover or like Duke Fame and the Fame Throwers? There’s a fine line between clever and stupid.
Do I have to change the way I describe my desire to catch carp now that you has given a description of certain parts of the fish?
Welcome back from Florida Crowldawg. I can’t take credit for the description now cemented deep into subconscious that you will never shake
