Every angler sets goals. It could be numbers, poundage, or a species life list. I like to focus on days. The goal is always 100. A reasonable number for a non-guide in a northern climate. It breaks down to this; get out at least twice a week for 50 weeks. Rips of five or six days in a row even out any winter hibernation.
There’s no substitute for days and when they’re gone they don’t come back. Check the calendar and it’s the fourth month and the days not fished are mounting. Forces beyond my control are stacking them up like cord wood. This has got to change. Time to start bringing the lumber.

If only it was like that Pete, like your thinking though!
I think I’m going to put another number in the books tonight instead of going to watch other people putting numbers in their books. Not sure yet though.
I think I’ll try to do the same
PMcD…
Good stuff. It should be a daily reminder for us all. It’s no dress rehearsal we’re holding here.
You could take the position that underachievement is a form of rebellion.
But once you get into your 30s it gets a little sorry.
Not making the film tour tonight, it’s too nice out not to hit the water.
Agreed
Where are you guys?
I’m in a pea soup fog ,the water temp in 39 and the wind out of the east.
I think I’ll read that poem again about April.

I’m with you! If I could do it, I would. My option is the ocean, but it just isn’t the same as the freshwater… with a 4 hour drive to where I like to fish.
Like one of the tags on another blog says, DS, good fishing is where yer at. Salt starts next week, officially. Stripers that is.
