Ween covers Van Halen and whacks stripers on the Jersey coast. That’s about all you could want in a rock outfit. (Plus, they put out 12 Golden Country Greats.) Check out Brownie Troop Fishing Show, put out by Dean Ween. (Link via Moldy Chum)

Yesterday I went fly fishing in Central Park with author and distance casting expert Randy Kadish. Tiny bass. We targeted the wild largemouth inhabiting the park. The fish are pretty cagey since it’s a catch-and-release fishery with a lot of pressure. I had follows from big fish that wouldn’t commit to my woolly bugger. The bluegill came out in force. I hooked one that jumped like a bass. Randy displayed his distance technique. He ripped off accurate 95-100 foot casts with his six-weight intermediate line. Turtles. Casting over the temporary fence.
I was on a different blog provider for a while, but now everything is on Fishingjones.com
Any day now, the fishingjones.com url will bring you here. One theological argument from back in the day surmised that the universe runs according to design, and any design must have a designer, proving the existence of God. Some theologians carried that a step further, making the argument that God designed the universe but then skipped town. That’s how I feel about eponym, my former blog host. I switched to them a year and a half ago, and loved the simple template design and ease-of-use. But then their customer service and support staff seemed to disappear, maybe to Mexico or the back roads of Myanmar. At heart, I am a Darwinist, and I turned to WordPress in accordance with survival of the fittest. So far…
This will be the new location for Fishing Jones as soon as I get to migrating.
The Frederic Remington Museum in Ogdensburg, New York, is offering some limited edition handcrafted Remington fly rods by Damon Rods. There are 25 graphites available for $750 a pop, and 10 bamboo fly rods available for $1,500 apiece. Anyone interested should call the museum at 315-393-2425 or email info@remingtonmuseum.org. For more detailed information download the attached PDF. (In full disclosure, my dad is a trustee for the museum.)
